October Meeting 2016

Saturday 15th October 2016, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Have-a-go Day – Weft faced weaving on a rigid heddle loom

A change to our published programme.

Experiment with weft faced weaving on a rigid heddle loom under Angela’s guidance. The warp is set at about 4 threads an inch and so the weft completely covers it.  You can either use two or three  strands of yarn to weave a simple scene or two thicker yarns in contrasting colours to weave a mat with stripes and/or spots. Angela  will focus on weaving scenes in the morning and patterns in the afternoon. She will bring weft yarns but you might like to bring your own. Home dyed yarns which are not dyed evenly give good results for landscapes or seascapes.

Angela will be bringing some looms with her, already warped up, so that members can “have-a-go”!
