DESCRIPTION:Have-a-Go Day: Rigid Heddles – not just plain weave.  With Guild members Liz Mitchell and Angela Pawlyn.\n\n\nLiz will show you how to add string heddles to convert a rigid heddle loom to three or four shafts.\n\nAngela will show you how patterns can be woven on rigid heddle looms using pick up sticks or by distorting the weft. She will bring several looms (including three belonging to the Guild) for you to have a go on or you can experiment on your own loom.\n\nIf you have not woven before you can have a go with plain weave.

DESCRIPTION:Have-a-go day:  It’s all happening in May!  Make Dorset buttons with Rosie and have a go at tablet weaving with Anne. \nIf you’d like to make Dorset Buttons\, please bring along a tapestry needle\, anchor embroidery thread/light DK yarn (or equivalent hand spun)\, and small plastic curtain rings for the basic structure.  Rosie will have plastic rings you can use.  Depending on the size of button you wish to make\, you have a few options for plastic curtain rings\, but do make sure that if you intend to wash the buttons once sewn onto a project\, that you use plastic rather than metal. \nFor Tablet Weaving\, nothing to bring\, just turn up! \nTablet Weaving \nPlus the regular sales table and afternoon cake. \nPlease wear a face mask when moving around the hall.  Windows will be open to provide ventilation.

DESCRIPTION:Tablet Weaving Workshop with Anne Hughes. \n \nLearn how to set up your tablets for weaving\, how to read a pattern\, and how to use your knowledge of practical tablet weaving to change the pattern as you weave. \nYou will weave two bands on the day\, with the option to continue at home. DESCRIPTION:The Science of Colour with Angela Pawlyn \nAngela Pawlyn will be helping us explore ‘The Science of Colour’ and our own colour perception.  In the morning Angela is planning to use a simple colour perception exercise asking people to rate various colour combinations ranging from awful to lovely.  Following on from this Angela will talk about “The Science of Colour” and a lead us in a discussion about colour.
