Morning: have a go at making “paper” from silk cocoon strippings using the natural gum in the silk.

Afternoon: short talk on “Silk Variations” using handling packs, covering

• difference between reeled and spun silk yarns
• types of silk available for spinning
• types of silk fabric (taffeta, organza, crepe satin)

Samples of degummed cocoons and silk caps will be given to spinners to try.
